The product and team:

You will be part of the Polaris team that creates value by transforming Swisscom raw network data into mobility and network insights at the scale of the country. You blend in with our team of software engineers, data engineers and data scientists, who are passionate about building data and machine learning products. We invent and implement algorithms; we design and build systems while leveraging knowledge from domains like machine learning, graph theory, distributed systems, data mining, privacy engineering, etc.  

 

As an AWS Developer you will:

  • Ensure the smooth operation and timely fixing of data pipelines, keeping them efficient and reliable for ongoing data processing tasks.

  • Develop new data and AI pipelines while constantly improving existing ones to enhance data observability and optimize system performance.

  • Support the migration of applications and pipelines to AWS revamping current architecture to fully exploit AWS capabilities and improve overall system efficiency.

  • Monitor the accuracy of data sources, assess impacts on datasets and coordinate with source teams to implement necessary changes for data integrity.

  • Implement regular security updates, enhance infrastructure stability, and perform continuous performance monitoring to maintain robust and secure operations.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science or similar technical field of study

  • Proven hands-on experience with AWS services (min. 3 years of experience)

  • Strong development skills in Python or Scala

  • Extensive hands-on experience with distributed computing services and frameworks like Spark

  • Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD practices

  • Knowledge in some of those technologies Kafka, NoSQL, Apache Airflow, REST APIs is a plus

  • Understanding or interest in computer security is a plus

  • Excellent written and spoken English

Allowances

Contract terms

  • To begin with you will receive a fixed term contract (one year), after 6 months of your employment with us, after a feedback meeting with the team, there is a possibility of extending the contract

  • The salary ranges mentioned in our Job Descriptions are base annual gross salaries including the 8% holiday allowance
